Sam was able to get a sample of his wife's urine (she forgot to flush) and did the pregnancy test on his own, in secret, after realizing she missed her period. Then he starts dropping subtle hints to his wife about how she "can't have wine." When she realizes what he's insinuating, he grabs the pregnancy test.
At first, Nia laughs it off. But she slowly realizes that Sam was not, as he puts it, "taking a dump." "You can't be serious?" she asks over and over as it dawns on her. She was hoping she'd be able to break the news to Sam, but her husband managed to flip the whole thing on her.
