When Lisa Gfeller's daughter Kathryn Laudadio died by suicide after struggling with anorexia and bipolar, Gfeller decided to sell Laudadio's 204 pairs of designer shoes and give the money to help other eating disorder sufferers, Connecticut Post reports.
Gfeller said she felt her daughter's prized collection of Jeffrey Campbell, Dulce Vida, and Betsy Johnson shoes could be used for "something that would pay it forward. A project that helps people heal. What is better than that? It is a match made in heaven."

Gfeller says her daughter was very empathetic and always tried to help other people who were struggling in the same ways she had been. She feels her daughter would love the idea of her shoes — which she loved so much because they made her feel good about her body no matter what size it was — being used to help other people recover and heal.
Fifty percent of the proceeds from the shoes will go to eating disorder treatment facility Project HEAL and the family hopes the shoes will raise up to $10,000 for the cause.
